Peppermint Bark Frozen Hot Chocolate

Peppermint Bark Frozen Hot Chocolate | erin made this-21Hi Australia! Welcome to SUMMER. Imma ready for the beach and christmas beetles and mangoes. {Hi to the rest of the world, too!}.

How did you spend your summer days when you were a teenager, though?

I’d pump the air conditioner and sit on the couch with a doona, watching the latest release at the video store, only stopping to go and buy some hot chips for lunch or maybe a frosty fruit.

The most important part of that equation was the movie. Always a romantic comedy, usually with Jennifer Lopez. But, my most favourite movie from these long, hot summers was Serendipity

If you haven’t seen it you must download *cough* buy it immediately, if not sooner.

It’s a classic. Girl meets guy, girl writes her number in a book, guy spends his life looking for the book in NYC book stores. You know, that old schtick?

In the film, Kate and John also share a frozen hot chocolate from Serendipity 3, a cafe in NYC. So obviously my whole life I have obsessed about having my very own. A frozen hot chocolate {which I am sure you have figured out} is just an icy hot chocolate. BAM! Good, right?

Because  I am a FOOL, I didn’t have a frozen hot chocolate when I visited NYC a couple of years ago. I mean, it was like 1000 degrees which is perfect FHC weather and I completely forgot. I actually don’t know what is wrong with me.

Even though in January it’ll be cold enough to make your own frozen hot chocolate in a gutter from chocolate milk, I am VOWING to have one. It’ll be snowing and dark and John Cusack will probably be there. Can’t wait. Peppermint Bark Frozen Hot Chocolate | erin made this-11

Thanks so much to Williams Sonoma for the Peppermint Bark used for this recipe! I had never had it until now and OMG. The most glorious, Christmassy thing ever.

I can’t explain exactly how much I need this! Ugh, Brisbane is disgusting.
I actually made peppermint bark the other day because I saw it on the front page of the Williams Sonoma magazine that arrived in my mailbox. It just inspired me so much, but I didn’t realise that it was actually already a massive thing LOL. Was totes going to blog it haha!

I LOVE that movie. Must’ve watched it a dozen times in the early 2000s. This frozen hot chocolate looks DELISH! Can’t imagine having Christmas in the summer, although here in Southern California, it may as well be as it gets so hot some years.

Eeeek me too! A summer Christmas has definite pros but just ONCE i’d love to drink a hot chocolate while it snows and the fire is on and I’m watching carols? Why can’t I?

It’s so weird to me that I had never heard of peppermint bark until maybe a year or two ago. According to many people it’s ‘always been a staple’? Was I neglected as a child?

Anyway, this looks incredible and I think I’ll definitely be trying this out during the summer.

Will also err…acquire Serendipity for movie night this weekend. Thanks for the tip.

Oh you are a clever one. This sounds delicious! However the name is messing with my head – frozen HOT chocolate AHHHH.
I have been thinking a lot about teenage summers lately so it is funny you brought that up. Days that stretched out with nothing important to do. I cannot remember ever being so relaxed. I used to watch daytime soaps and do cross stitch (like the rock and roll teenager I was).
I don’t think I have seen Serendipity but i do adore a NYC bookstore so I think i might have to find a copy.

Omg, LOVE the movie and LOVE Serendipity 3….but most of all LOVE frozen hot chocolate from Serendipity 3! It’s been like 5 years since I had one and I STILL think about it! My husband and I shares one (they’re big!) and instantly regretted it as they taste too good! I may need to marry you for bringing us this Christmas gift. JOY TO THE WORLD!!!!!
