I always quiz my friend Bek after she visits her boyfriend’s family. I make her list all of the food she ate and what his family said and did {at which point we will laugh uncontrollably} throughout the lunch.
You see, her boyfriend’s family is Greek. Their family affairs always include interesting salads, haloumi and lamb. I’d imagine it to be exactly like My Big Fat Greek Wedding. Bek’s stories do very little to quash that stereotype.

There is nothing more fascinating to me than what other people eat. I come from an Anglo-Saxon family and although we had good food growing up, it was just very typical. So, as soon as I know someone’s upbringing is different to mine, I begin to ask questions and compare what I know, to what they know. Sharing food stories is my favourite thing.

Although these Feta and Lamb Meatball Subs are a far cry from what my research says a Greek family would eat, they do include all of the traditional Greek ingredients I know they use. Salty feta is dotted throughout the meatballs which are grilled until the cheese is oozy. They are then served a top crusty bread, tangy yoghurt and a fresh cucumber and mint salad.
