A Sunday in Berry NSW

The south coast of NSW is one of my favourite places on this planet. I’ve been going there for over 10 years now. Ever since my Dad bought a caravan in Shoalhaven Heads when I was in high school.

I make it down there a few times a year. Once in the summer with all my friends then sporatic weekends or on the school holidays with whoever is up for it. With each visit, a day trip to Berry is a MUST.

A weekend in Winter is a perfect time to visit Berry. It’s cold but oh-so-pretty. There’s plenty to do but my trips usually revolve around food {surprise!}. I was there a couple of Sundays ago and took some snaps. Check out some of my favourite spots!

Never go past a famous Berry donut. How good can a cinnamon donut be, you ask? Insanely good I say! It’s located on Queen St, near Moss Nest and Little Rae Berry.

Just down from the Donut Van is Roots and Wings Design, my favourite store in Berry. It has a beautiful mix of clothes, home wares and beauty products. I seriously die over the kid’s section each time I am there, too.  When I grow up, I want to own a store just like it.

Last, but abso-freaking-lutely not least is the Berry Sourdough Bakery and Cafe. For a long time it was the only place to eat breakfast in Berry. This weekend though, I happened to have spotted a couple of new and delicious looking places after I had already eaten those Bakes Eggs with Mushrooms and Smoked Cheddar you see above.

It’s still not to be missed though. Get the Cafe Au Lait for a mega wake up and try the french toast. The flavours are always changing. Oh and make sure you take home some sourdough and pastries. Basically, don’t go there without at least $50.

Some other amazing places I love include:

1. The Shady Fig– a beautiful florist with contemporary posies and lovely gifts.
2. The Hungry Duck– an Asian fusion restaurant. Try the fried rice with aged chorizo.
3. Mezzadella’s– delicious wood fired pizza and salad.
4.  Little Rae General Store– treats, simple breakfasts and All Press Coffee. Also some home wares. Swooning over the linen sheets.

What gorgeous photos!! It looks like such a beautiful place. I think the happiest I have ever been in my whole life was in Australia, all up and down the east coast. I am saving up to go back and explore more!

OMG the donuts at Berry – I had forgotten abut those warm sweet donuts. I love that place and I am well overdue another visit. I think I feel the same way about Eumundi although I cant just do a quick drive there for the weekend xx
